Host Families

• Open your home: Welcome Swedish guests into your household for a week. Share daily life: It’s not about grand gestures; it’s about warmth and inclusion.
• Support system: We provide orientation, translation help when needed, and a network of other hosts so you’re never alone.

Support Volunteers

Support staff are the backbone of every Swedish visit to Scandia. They’re the folks who roll up their sleeves to make sure our guests feel at home—whether that’s preparing lunch (with grocery costs covered), offering a ride for a day of touring, opening their homes for a cozy evening dinner with several Swedes, or lending a hand at the farewell banquet. These behind-the-scenes efforts keep the visit running smoothly and make our friends from Mellerud feel truly welcomed.

Event Helpers

• Setup & cleanup crews: Tables don’t decorate themselves, and chairs don’t magically stack.
• Food & hospitality: Serve coffee at a Fika, keep the pastries moving, or help plan a farewell buffet.
• Cultural extras: If you’ve got music, dance, or craft skills, share them! Swedish nyckelharpa or not, all talents are welcome

Creative & Communications

• Translation help.
• Writers & photographers: Capture the stories and moments for our newsletters, local papers, and website.
• Designers & tech helpers: Posters, flyers, social media posts, or even just wrangling photos into Dropbox—yes, it all counts.
• Grant & sponsor support: Help us find and thank local sponsors who make exchanges affordable.
