Invest in Friendship, Right Here in Scandia

The Scandia Sister City Council (SSCC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which means your contribution is fully tax-deductible. More importantly, it means you’re supporting a grassroots, community-driven effort to keep the Scandia–Mellerud relationship thriving.

We’re proud to point out what we don’t do: we don’t take any taxpayer funding from the City of Scandia. Our work is fueled entirely by people who believe in it—neighbors, local businesses, and friends who know the value of cultural exchange and community building.

WHY IT MATTERS

Your gift helps keep this partnership vibrant and affordable for everyone. Because the program runs on volunteers and contributions, even modest donations make a visible impact. You’re not just funding an event—you’re sustaining a long-term friendship that enriches Scandia with new traditions, global perspectives, and stronger community ties.

Where your Donation Goes

Every dollar you give stays local and supports real, tangible work such as:

  • Hosting delegations from Sweden with meals, transportation, and community events
  • Bringing genealogy experts, musicians, and artists to share their talents here in Scandia
  • Creating welcoming touches like host gifts, and community events including Cinnamon Bun Day and Community Fikas.

wHAT YOUR dONATION MEANS

By donating, you’re joining a circle of neighbors who value hospitality, culture, and the simple power of human connection. Together, we make Scandia’s global friendship with Mellerud stronger every year.
